Current Practices in Treating Cardiomyopathy and Heart Failure in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD): Understanding Care Practices in Order to Optimize DMD Heart Failure Through ACTION

The results of an ACTION-wide survey of pediatric cardiology providers are detailed in the latest ACTION publication, Current Practices in Treating Cardiomyopathy and Heart Failure in Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD): Understanding Care Practices in Order to Optimize DMD Heart Failure Through ACTION. Thirty-one providers from 23 centers responded to the survey, the results of which highlight that there is appreciable variation in diagnostic and therapeutic approach to DMD cardiomyopathy across the country. ACTION centers across the country are starting to employ advanced therapies including VAD and ICD, however, the indications and access vary based on center preference. The ACTION team will be working together to understand the impact of the variation in care on clinical outcomes and to use a data driven approach to care harmonization.

This ACTION study was published in June 2022 in Pediatric Cardiology. Congratulations to the researchers:
