Children bridged to heart transplant on a ventricular assist device did not have worse graft survival than those supported medically. Drawing on 1,360 linked records from ACTION & PHTS, the study found that apparent differences between device types faded once patient complexity was accounted for.

Achievements like this would not be possible without the continued efforts and dedication of our ACTION centers providing care to these patients, as well as entering, cleaning, and adjudicating the data. We also continued access to the Berlin Heart Active Driver under the extended trial, and we published many new ACTION manuscripts.

Reducing donor acceptance practice variation – Learnings from a discussion forum
