ACTION has been busy with new publications, tools, resources, and projects (see links and features below). We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new VAD Adverse Event Definitions! These new and updated definitions will help us capture events more accurately and efficiently. The DCC also streamlined fields, improved forms, and added instructional text throughout to make data entry easier and faster. Thanks to all those who worked on this important project! Upcoming EventsACTION VAD BootcampOctober 15, 2025 | Houston, TX ACTION is excited to host this one-day, hands-on, and didactic training the prior to the International Pediatric VAD & Heart Failure Summit (see below). This training is designed for clinicians looking to build or refresh their Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) knowledge and will include:
It’s a great opportunity for fellows, junior faculty, and any clinician interested in learning more about VADs. All are welcome to register and attend, including any clinician needing introductory or refresher training.

NEW & UPDATED!VAD Adverse EventsTo improve pediatric VAD care, ACTION has developed updated adverse event (AE) definitions that align with ECMO-CENTRAL pediatric standards, adult MCS criteria, and legacy Intermacs/ACTION definitions – while addressing the unique needs of children with and without congenital heart disease. Informed by data, experience, and broad expert input, these definitions represent current consensus and will be updated regularly to remain clinically relevant.
